Spark Broadband

Digital technology can make a significant, positive impact on our nation's social and economic wellbeing – enabling stronger, safer, more connected communities (even in the most remote rural areas), opening more opportunities for our children (regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds), and improving health outcomes for New Zealanders of all ages and walks of life.

It can enable Kiwi companies to compete - and win - on the world stage and become smarter, more agile businesses by harnessing all the benefits of new technologies such as Cloud services and the Internet of Things.

Spark's success is dependent on our customers in one key market: New Zealand. That's why we're passionate about using technology to be truly useful to our customers, helping make our country better and enriching the lives of all New Zealanders. We want to be the most valued brand in the home, and the most trusted partner for business.

Spark made no effort to retain me as a customer once fibre became available and we could upgrade from the copper net work.
Pros
Much faster and cheaper service
Cons
None so far

Urged to go to 4G. Good for 3 months then started slowing. Eventually speed test said - no latency. Changed to copperwire - wonderful. Took two months of problems (still had to pay) to connect- all Spark problems. Then received letter saying copperwire monthly price going up and go back to wonderful, reliable 4G to avoid increase in charges. Spark customer service denied anything wrong with 4G and my problems were normal.
Pros
Features on paper were good
Cons
Arrogant staff responses - with two exceptions.
No service - yet still paying
Talk at you - not to you

I have been with many different ISPs over the years and Spark, by far, is the worst company to deal with.

There was nothing wrong with their service, the internet worked. But every month they would find a new way to overcharge me.

They are also the most expensive.
Pros
Internet worked, most of the time.
Cons
In 3 months. I've had to spend 6+ hours on the phone with them sorting out billing issues that originated on their side.

Their modem also needed constant resetting to work at full speed.

$125 for vdsl and a mobile on the $39.99 plan what sticks in my craw is the 20c per call to your voicemail for the mobile.
Pros
Works network was ok not too bad for VDSL
Cons
comes down to what the cost is
