Skinny’s whole reason for being is to strip everything back, so you only pay for stuff you actually want at super low prices. It’s based on a model called common sense. Skinny broadband only does award winning mobile and broadband, and it’s all prepay.

Skinny Mobile is a division of Spark New Zealand Trading Limited, and Skinny happily uses Spark's 4G network.

Skinny are realiable with minimal glitches compared with other providers

Pros:

I was after a provider that had copper landline plus broadband and no contract.
Skinny was one of the providers that fitted my criteria and of those that I approached they were the first one to get back to me so I signed up with them.

Delighted with this company but since they depend on 4G mobile network and this isn't available where I am going to move, I have to stop using them. Sad.

Pros:

Price and service superb

Cons:

We ran out often two days before the end of the month and it got tricky learning to renew online.

I have a SkinnyDirect $35 4Gb rollover data with unlimited voice and texts.
If I run out of data the easiest and cheapest option is to cancel current plan and start a new one. Occasionally use the $50 12Gb plan.
Industry wide data pricing is a racket. eg. Common plan costs $55 for 6Gb and $65 for 35Gb plan. Just $10 for 29Gb.

Pros:

Pros: Cheapest plan around. Reasonable signal strength most places in NZ.
1 month contract.
Their web site = my dashboard is easy to use. The Help team do know how their site works.

Cons:

Cons: Support is bad. Any problems are always said to be at my end. Only under pressure will they do anything to assist with ph/network setup.
Recently bought a new Ph. Old Skinny SIM not fit. Purchased new one at Countdown (Spark retail not sell). Turns out Skinny Mobile SIM and SkinnyDirect SIM are different and Skinny Direct Help sent me a new one. After 4 days snail mail it did not work out of the box. They had to do settings at their end. IF I had walked into a 2Degree shop as a 2Degree customer with my new ph they would have sorted it on the spot.

Since moving to Skinny from Vodafone, the service has been really poor, disconnecting many times an hour, and we can't use Chromecast. Support took weeks to get back to us, and there were 40 minute waits to speak with someone on the phone. We were eventually sent a replacement modem, but this was worse, not better in terms of Internet speed and reliability. When we attempted live chat, they gave us the wrong information and asked us to do a test that was not applicable to our fibre service and it brought down the Internet completely. After weeks of this, and insisting on speaking with a supervisor, we were referred to a properly trained technician who advised us after much investigation that we'd been given the wrong information previously during our dealings with support staff. Ultimately, we were advised that the Skinny network could not provide us with stable Internet service at the speeds advertised as part of their package. Slow, unreliable Internet, poor support, poorly trained staff with each staff member telling you something different. Can't use Chromecast with Skinny.

Tried to get a new connection for my new build property. Skinny refused to pay the chorus fees for establishing the connection because they are "a low-cost company that doesn't do that". These pricks wasted half a day of my time making me their middle man between themselves and chorus.
I don't leave reviews, but this experience was so terrible that I feel I should.

The best part is they've now sent me a return bag for their modem... The bag is too small hahahaha. They can't even get that right. ...read more

Absolutely nothing. Unless when you say an "internet connection" what you are actually after is nothing

everything from customer service to the actual ability to provide basic internet connection

Price is reasonable and competitive.
